Arsenate as a Selective Inhibitor of Growth Substance Action.

نویسنده

چکیده

The action of growth substances in causing cell elongation is closely linked to respiration, and many respiratory inhibitors also inhibit growth (COMMONER and THIMANN, 3, BONNER, 1, 2). In the study -of the way in which growth substances act to bring about growth it is therefore useful to have inhibitors which will suppress the action of growth substances without affecting respiration of the treated tissue. Such a selective inhibitor of growth substance action has been found in arsenate.

Interactive of arsenate and phosphate on arsenic-induced oxidative stress in root of Isatis cappadocica Desv.

In present study, growth, arsenic accumulation, and antioxidant responses in root of Isatis cappadocica were investigated in response to application of arsenate and phosphate. Reduction in root dry weights was significant with 1200 µM arsenate and 5 µM phosphate treatments. Phosphate had a steady effect on root dry weight improvement, especially in high arsenate treatments ≥ 200 μM. As concentr...

Physicochemical, Stress Degradation Evaluation and Pharmacokinetic Study of AZGH101; a New Synthesized COX2 Inhibitor after I.V. and Oral Administration in Male and Female Rats

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) act mainly via inhibition of prostaglandins synthesis by inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) isoenzymes (COX1 and COX 2). Selective COX-2 inhibitors which are also known as coxibs provide the main therapeutic effects of NSAIDs. Zarghi et al. reported 6-benzoyl-2-(4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid (AZGH 101) as a novel derivative of...

Studies on Blood Glycolysis I. Effect of Arsenate

Meyerhof (8) has shown that arsenate stimulates the decomposition of carbohydrate and of hexosephosphate esters by the glycolytic enzyme of muscles. This observation brings muscle glycolysis into close relationship with fermentation of sugar by yeast or yeast products. Harden and Young (6) who discovered the stimulating action of the phosphate ion on the process of alcoholic fermentation were l...

Inhibition of NR2B-Containing N-methyl-D-Aspartate Receptors (NMDARs) in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis, a Model of Multiple Sclerosis

Neurodegeneration is the pathophysiological basis for permanent neurological disabilities in multiple sclerosis (MS); thus neuroprotection is emerging as a therapeutic approach in MS research. Modulation of excitotoxicity by inhibition of NMDARs has been suggested for neuroprotection, but selective antagonisation of the NR2B subtype of these receptors, a subtype believed to play a more pivotal ...
